The popularity of coffee makers is such that you can find so many different brands and versions in the market today. This has led to a lot of confusion, especially for a lot of people who are buying the appliance for the first time. This article gives tips to help you out in choosing the best coffee maker for you, based on different coffee maker reviews.

Kinds of Coffee Makers

There are actually different kinds of coffee makers, as what you can read in coffee maker reviews. Popular variants include:

  • Standard drip coffee makers. According to coffee maker reviews, standard drip coffee makers are the most common type of coffee machines. This works by dripping hot water over the ground coffee to produce your drink.
  • Percolator coffee makers. This type of coffee maker boils the coffee grounds and lets the water pass through the cooked grounds to create your drink.
  • Single use coffee makers. Also known as capsule, K-Cup, or pod coffee makers, these produce a single cup of coffee.
  • French coffee press. As the name suggests, the coffee press pushes the coffee grounds to squeeze out the juice into the boiling water to give you rich, dark coffee.
  • Vacuum coffee makers. The water is first heated in one chamber, which brings the liquid into the upper chamber where the ground coffee is placed. Once the lower chamber empties, the mixture drips down, passing through a sieve along the way to filter out the grounds.
  • Specialty coffee makers. There are also coffee makers that automatically make specialty brews such as espressos, cappuccinos, or lattes with a few button presses.

What to Look for in Coffee Makers

  • Controls. Make sure that the coffee maker you get has controls that can be easily operated, or you may end up tearing out your hair out of frustration because it’s hard to set it to prepare even just a single cup of coffee.
  • Size. Make sure that the coffee maker you get has enough capacity to produce enough coffee per batch.
  • Construction. Make sure that the materials used to make the coffee material have high quality, as poor-quality materials can cause the appliance to break down quickly. That way, you can have the assurance that the coffee maker will last you for a longer period of time.
  • Automatic timer. There are some coffee makers that you can set so that it will prepare a batch of coffee by a certain time. As such, you can wake up in the morning with a fresh cup of coffee awaiting you without waiting.
  • Temperature. The coffee maker you get should allow you to change the temperature settings to suit your tastes.
  • Ease of cleaning. The coffee maker you get should also be easy to clean for added convenience.
  • Cost. Last, but certainly not the least, make sure that the coffee maker you will be getting has a price that is within your budget. There are actually affordable coffee makers that have received good coffee maker reviews, so you can get a unit that won’t burn a hole through your pocket.

Aside from these factors, there are also optional features that you can look for in coffee machines. Some coffee maker reviews list these as the following:

  • Pause-and-pour feature. The automatic coffee makers should also have a feature that allows you to pause the brewing so you can get a cup without having to wait for the entire batch to finish brewing.
  • Auto shut-off feature. The auto shut-off feature is a valuable feature for coffee makers to have, especially if you’re the forgetful type. That way, you don’t end up with overcooked, bitter coffee.
  • Batch settings. The coffee maker should ideally have a feature that will allow you to change the settings so you can control just how much coffee the machine will produce per batch.
  • Coffee strength control. Some coffee makers have a feature that allows users to tweak with the settings so they can choose the coffee strength that suits their tastes.

Tips in Finding the Best Coffee Maker

Aside from looking at the features listed above when choosing a coffee maker, there are also some other factors that you can take into consideration when shopping for the appliance. Some coffee maker reviews provide additional tips that you can follow to make sure that you get the best coffee machine.

  • Consider your needs. What actually are you looking for in a coffee maker? Are there other people who will be using the appliance? How many cups do you go through in a day? Will you be using this at home or at work? Do you want the machine to make specialty drinks as well as giving you the good old cup of joe? Make sure to get the coffee maker that fits your needs.
  • Look at coffee maker reviews. Doing a little research before heading to the stores can already make you better prepared to choosing which of the coffee makers being sold is the right choice for you. A coffee maker review can already give you a hint whether the appliance you’re eyeing is worth the buy or not.
  • Don’t just consider the price. A lot of people make the mistake of buying the cheapest coffee maker from the store, and as a result, they end up with foul-tasting coffee. Make sure to consider all other factors and not just how much you will be shelling out to get the coffee maker to make sure that you will get an appliance that’s worth the money that you will be spending on it.

Find the Best Coffee Maker Through Reading Coffee Maker Reviews

In the past decades, people were used to making a cup of coffee through a very simple process. Coffee beans, either roasted or ground, would be immersed in hot water and then the pot’s lid would be closed to begin the infusion process. The pot would remain closed until the water boils and gives off the right coffee scent. This method is only one of the many methods used to brew coffee during the earlier times. However, these methods have already been forgotten by many people after the arrival of the coffee maker.

Coffee makers make brewing quicker and easier for people. Coffee makers are appliances in the kitchen that allow a user to brew coffee without having to wait for the water to boil in a separate container. For many coffee lovers, the coffee maker is one of the greatest inventions ever built for the kitchen. Many people have become dependent on caffeine. In the morning, the coffee maker is a great help for those who are in a rush or are just too groggy to prepare a cup of coffee. This smart piece of ingenuity helps people jumpstart their day with a good cup of brewed coffee.

How do coffee makers work?

Coffee makers may work in several ways, depending on the brewing process it uses. But generally, coffee makers work using similar principles.

Inside the funnel connecting the upper and lower chambers of the coffee maker, there is a paper or metal filter where the coffee grounds must be placed. In a separate chamber, usually at the top of the coffee maker, there is a container where users can pour the water to be heated. Once the water boils, it will be directed through the funnel. Below the funnel and the filter, you can find the coffee pot which is responsible for collecting the brewed coffee. This method is for the automatic drip types of coffee makers.

There are other types of coffee makers: the manual drip, coffee filter, and plunger pots otherwise known as the French press.

The manual drip requires for the person to boil water in a separate container. Coffee filters are types of coffee makers that are designed to sift out unpleasant tastes and ingredients from ground coffee beans. This is useful in keeping the coffee clean and free from unseen particles so as to keep the consistency smooth. Filters can be made out of Gold, Gold-tone, Stainless steel, Paper or Nylon.

Plunging pots or French press coffee makers were designed after the old method of brewing coffee that was discovered by a French man in the 1930s. The principle in French press brewing was to let boiling water in the lower chamber intensify so that it touches the ground coffee beans at the upper chamber and comes back down to the lower chamber as coffee. The French press type is the ideal commercial coffee maker because it is more potent in producing a cup of coffee with the most possible perfect taste.

This is a coffee maker review/comparison by the High Tech Dad comparing two single server coffee makers, the Cuisinart SS-700 and the Keurig Special Edition. He starts off by stating that both of the coffee makers are Keurig compatible.  By this he means that each of the coffee makers use the K cups which are single serving capsules to make coffee and very popular.

He says that the coffee makers are pretty similar and that the prices of the coffee makers are approximately within $60 of each other. This model of the Cuisinart coffee maker is a little more expensive than the Keurig comparable.

He demonstrates how each machine lifts open at the top of the coffee maker to reveal the area where the K cup is placed in order to brew the coffee. Both machines have very similar designs when it comes to this feature.

The next feature that the High Tech Dad discusses is the drips tray. He states that both coffee makers contain a detachable drip tray that can be removed to accommodate larger mugs. Of course this is a nice feature for any person looking to purchase a new coffee maker.

4. Saeco XSmall Class Coffee Machine Video Review

This is a review of the Saeco XSmall Class Coffee Machine by Shawn from Espresso Italia. He starts out by saying that the first thing that you notice is that the size of the machine. It may have one of the smallest footprints of any of the coffee makers on the maker.

Shawn says like with most of the Saeco machines, the water is always on the left and the drip drawer and the service door is on the right of the coffee maker.

He goes on to say that one of the best features of the machine is that it is designed with kitchen harmony in mind. Then he turns the unit around to show that the plug is small and tucked away into the machine. This is a great feature for those of us that have clutter in the kitchen. 6. Cuisinart DCC-2000 Programmable Coffee Maker Video Review

This review is for the Cuisinart DCC-2000 Programmable Coffee Maker by James H. He starts off by saying that he has had the coffee maker for a very long time and it has outperformed just about every other coffee maker that he has come across.

James even states that he has tried a Bunn commercial grade coffee maker and he still prefers the Cuisinart DCC-2000. The reason he said that he likes this model of coffee maker so much is that everything is self-contained at the top of the unit.

He goes on to describe how the coffee maker works. He said that you open the top of the unit and pour the water in and also pour the coffee in and the coffee maker brews the coffee. The brewed coffee is then held in a heated compartment of the machine until you are ready for a cup of coffee.

When you are ready for a cup, you place your coffee mug at the bottom of the unit underneath the nozzle and when you pull the trigger, your cup fills up with coffee.

James also says that there is space in the unit to place taller mugs by sliding out the tray at the bottom of the unit.

7. Mr. Coffee ISTX95 Programmable 10-cup Coffee Maker Video Review

This review is of the Mr. Coffee ISTX95 Programmable 10-cup Coffee Maker. She starts off by discussing one of main features of this coffee maker which is the thermal carafe that comes with this unit.

The thermal carafe is a great because it keeps your brewed coffee warm without need for a heating element for the carafe to sit on.

This is good for a couple of reasons. One of the reasons is safety. It is possible to burn yourself on a heating unit if you are not careful. Another reason is that sometimes sitting a coffee carafe on a heating unit has a tendency to burn the coffee. Of course, this is not the ideal taste you would want.

She discusses other features such as the timer that buzzes after 2 hour is up. This just lets you know that the coffee has been there for 2 hours. She also discusses the programmable part of the coffee maker and how easy it is to set the coffee to brew at a certain time.

8. Toastmaster TCM10PW 10-Cup Automatic Coffee Maker Video Review

This next review is of the Toastmaster TCM10PW 10-Cup Automatic Coffee Maker. This is another decent review from expotv. Not the best review but it is decent.

She starts off by showing off the cup measurements on the side of the coffee maker. She says that you can make your cup of coffee a little weaker if you want and fill it up to 12 cups or you can just go with the regular 10 cup measurement.

She also shows how you can open up the top of the machine in order to place the coffee filter as well as the coffee grounds to brew your pot of coffee.

This unit looks to be a bit of an “older school” coffee maker but it still gets the job done.

This is a review of the Mr. Coffee ECM20 Steam Espresso Maker by Jennifer Z. She starts out by saying that they purchased this espresso maker when her husband may have been spending too much money at Starbucks. I bet everyone who is reading this can relate to that.

Next she shows where the water goes in the top of the machine and gives a tip to make sure that after water is placed into the machine, make sure that the top is on there tight because it could cause some trouble.
